Galerie du Roi

July 14th, 2010

This was taken at the Galerie du Roi (Gallery of the King), one of the Royal Galleries of Saint-Hubert in Brussels, Belgium.

I loved the way the light from the arched glass roof  high above shone down and transformed people into silhouettes, and the way their shadows stretched out before them.

More coming soon.

    I like it Z!
Nice play with the strong shadows.

It would have been such a perfect photo if there was only the woman standing alone in the middle.

    Great job! Keep posting!

Hey Dan! Thx! Glad you like. 🙂

I know what you mean re having one person standing in the middle. I actually waited there about 15 to 20 minutes before I took that shot – waiting for the moment that felt right. I took a range of shots, but this shot – and that moment – spoke to me more than any other. I like the rough, off-kilter symmetry of the two couples featured in the foreground. I sought to bring together a range of elements, to show the Gallery as the busy place it was, but without having it get too cluttered. Also, it seemed more interesting (for me) to have more than one person appear in the shot as I already have quite a few pictures in which only one person appears (whether in silhouette or otherwise)…

Thanks for the comments Dan! 🙂

    Hello Ziad,
A few years ago I was in Rajasthan for a month. When I arrived at Frankfurt Airport I just felt/saw that way the photo u took.
It was so silent and …some kind of grey and people like frozen metal…. so different from India : noisy – bright colours in combinations u d get blind 😉 normally – smelly – dust everywhere… but pure live…
